View Store PageProtecting Front-Line Heroes by Connecting People to Critical Product
It’s during challenging times that it’s more important than ever to lead with a Servant’s Heart. Our team members are working harder than ever to make a positive difference, including Jerry Whitt of the Interstate All Battery Center in Selma, Texas, who helped provide a much-needed product for our front-line heroes.
Even during times of uncertainty, Interstate Batteries’ values don’t change. Our team members continue to seek opportunities to lead with a Servant’s Heart, even if it is as simple as connecting people with needed product.
That’s why Jerry Whitt, store manager of Interstate All Battery Center in Selma, Texas, seized the opportunity to help a longtime customer when they needed it most – to keep front-line heroes and the community safe.
Through the relationship Whitt had built working with J&J Worldwide Services, he learned his client Anna was in desperate need of a specific battery to maintain systems at San Antonio Military Medical Center. The battery powers critical equipment, specifically a trailer-mounted sign that directs traffic to a COVID-19 testing facility, and helps doctors, nurses and other first responders as they provide care for the community.
Anna had tried to find the battery from countless sources, and each time, she was met with the same message: The battery was out of stock. However, when Whitt learned of Anna’s plight, he sprang into action to find a solution.
Whitt contacted Interstate’s Urbandale, Iowa, office in search of this product, and as fate would have it, an Interstate All Battery store in Conroe, Texas, had the battery as well as the number of batteries Anna was in desperate need of.
Joe Eberhardt, store manager of the Houston Interstate All Battery Center location, knew he couldn’t bare for Anna to be met with another out-of-stock message. Instead of waiting for the next-day pickup/delivery from Conroe to San Antonio, he drove to get the batteries himself. Eberhardt’s kind gesture ensured the batteries were delivered on time.
“There have been so many moments of people doing the right thing,” Anna said. “It makes moments like this when people go above and beyond really stand out. These batteries are being used by equipment that is important to helping keep our doctors, nurses and soldiers safe.”
While Interstate always aims to deliver quality products and the best customer service, Outrageously Dependable® extends to more than just our batteries – it’s in our people, too.
“We aim to serve our clients, but this situation carried extra importance for all involved as our batteries could inadvertently save and protect human lives,” Whitt said.
