Interstate Batteries and Joe Gibbs Racing: A Legacy of Leadership

When Interstate Chairman Emeritus Norm Miller chose to sponsor a NASCAR team, he wanted more than a winner. He wanted to work with Joe Gibbs, an individual who shared the same values Interstate holds. He is more than a winning coach and race team owner. He is an ethical businessman, a humanitarian and a committed husband and family man.

Before starting Joe Gibbs Racing, the famous coach had established himself as a winner by coaching the Washington Redskins to three Super Bowl championships. When he pulled together his rookie race team, Joe Gibbs Racing, Interstate came on board as the founding primary sponsor.

After only one season, Dale Jarrett drove the Interstate No. 18 car to victory lane in the biggest race of the year, the "Super Bowl" of NASCAR, the 1993 Daytona 500! That was just the beginning as in 2000, Bobby Labonte captured the NASCAR Cup Series Championship, bringing Interstate Batteries into view of hundreds of thousands of NASCAR fans. Joe Gibbs Racing racked up more championship wins in 2002 and 2005 with driver Tony Stewart and 2015 and 2019 with Kyle Busch, building a winning legacy with Interstate.

For decades now, that iconic green race car has powered Interstate Batteries and Joe Gibbs Racing to Victory Lane, and the best is yet to come!
