Interstate Batteries and Joe Gibbs Racing: A Legacy of Leadership
When Interstate Chairman Emeritus Norm Miller chose to sponsor a NASCAR team, he wanted more than a winner. He wanted to work with Joe Gibbs, an individual who shared the same values Interstate holds. He is more than a winning coach and race team owner. He is an ethical businessman, a humanitarian and a committed husband and family man.
Before starting Joe Gibbs Racing, the famous coach had established himself as a winner by coaching Washington D.C.'s pro NFL team to three Super Bowl championships. When he pulled together his rookie race team, Joe Gibbs Racing, Interstate came on board as title sponsor.
Eight years after the partnership was born, the Interstate No. 18 race car driven by Bobby Labonte captured the 2000 Winston Cup Championship, bringing Interstate Batteries into view of hundreds of thousands of NASCAR fans.
For decades now, that familiar green race car has brought Interstate Batteries and Joe Gibbs Racing into Victory Lane.
