Visually inspect all surge protectors/power strips on a regular basis to ensure they are not damaged or showing signs of wear and damage.

Check to see that the plug is fully engaged in the outlet.

The surge protector cord should be no longer than 6 feet long.

When the surge protector is not in use, unplug the cord from the power source..
